It's been absolutely breathless stuff from Shizuoka as Ireland lead Japan by 12 points to nine in a highly entertaining game.
Ireland have been the better of the two sides but only just as the Japanese have employed their trademark high-tempo game to great effect.
Jack Carty has been exemplary for the boys in green so far, kicking the ball more than today's average gaelic footballer and putting the hosts under all sorts of pressure.
It's not been as impressive as the game against Scotland from Schmidt's side but it has been more entertaining as the second-half promises to bring more of the same.
However, Ireland may want to slow down the pace of the game a bit and turn it into a battle between the forwards if they want to safely see this game out.
