Rassie Erasmus heaps praise on Saracens

Munster Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus has hailed the Saracens defence as they kept Munster out until the dying minutes of the match.

CJ Stander scored a late consultation for the red army as Saracens progressed to the Champions Cup final.

Speaking to Off the Ball's Dave McIntyre after the game, Erasmus said: "The scoreboard was actually flattering us a bit 6-3 at half time. I guess we had four or five opportunities when we were close to their try line but  we tried out best but their defence was just superior.

"We couldn't score a try so yes we can't moan about the margin. I think the scoring margin is a true reflection of the game and I think it's just something we have to accept. In nine months we've only come so far."

Speaking of his admiration for the victors, he said: "The biggest thing is Sarries did this on a six day turnaround after playing last Sunday, coming over here in front of this great crowd here - handling the pressure, applying the pressure on us and that's why they deserve to be the champions.

"That's what we must aim for. It took them five or six seasons to get there. Hopefully it takes us sooner but for sure - that's where we want to try and get too."
