Paddy Jackson's legal representatives say that the Ulster kicker "rejects completely any allegations made against him" and claims that he has "co-operated fully with police in their inquiries".
News emerged on Tuesday, as per the BBC, that both Jackson and Olding had been 'interviewed over alleged sexual offences' reported to have taken place at a property in South Belfast on June 28.
Both Jackson and Olding have since been released from custody, but the BBC report adds: "The PSNI have confirmed in a statement that a file will be prepared for submission to the Public Prosecution Service."
In a statement released today by the lawyers representing Jackson, KRW Law expressed disappointment that the information had been leaked to the press.
"We are both disappointed and indeed concerned that this information has been leaked to the press before the investigation has concluded and well in advance of any final decision.
"This has the potential to be prejudicial to our client’s interests."
They added: "We will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to protect his legal position as he is entitled to the presumption of innocence. We urge the media to restrain from any damaging speculation."
Ulster rugby also issued a statement on Tuesday morning in the wake of the news.
"Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding have been assisting the PSNI with enquiries," it reads.
"The players deny any wrongdoing and have not been charged with any offence. As no charges have been brought forward, it would be inappropriate to comment further."
