No more Friday night lights in Cardiff

The Welsh Rugby Union have confirmed that they will not host any Friday night games in the Six Nations for the next two years.

Wales have hosted seven of the eight Friday night matches in the competition over the last number of years but the Welsh administrators have decided against hosting them for the forseeable future.

Speaking to BBC Radio Wales, WRU chairman Gareth Davies said: "We basically made that comment, we feel other nations should share the burden.

"Commercially the Friday night games have done very well, they have been sell-outs and other sales on the business end have performed well.

"But it is incumbent upon us to take into account what supporters are saying. It is pretty inconvenient to get into Cardiff on a Friday night. We have taken into account what our loyal customers have told us," he added.

Wales beat Ireland 22-9 last Friday and now head to Paris to face the French. Ireland welcome Grand Slam chasing England to Dublin.
