Munster receive double fitness boost

Munster have received a double fitness boost ahead of their Heinken Champions Cup clash with Castres on Friday.

Captain Peter O'Mahony is poised to return after missing last weekend's win over Ulster.

He played no part in the United Rugby Championship win after being ruled out with a leg strain.

Jean Kleyn is also set to be available for selection.

The second row limped off in Munster's New Years Day loss to Connacht in Galway with a knee problem.

But he is back in training ahead of the game in France.

Meanwhile, Simon Zebo is set to appear before a United Rugby Championship disciplinary panel tomorrow.

The winger picked up a red card in Saturday's win over Ulster at Thomond Park, which could curtail his involvement in this weekend's action.

Elsewhere, Connacht have suffered an injury blow ahead of their meeting with Leicester on Saturday in Galway.

The westerners will be without in-form winger Mack Hansen, who aggravated a calf injury in training last week.

Hansen is the leading try-scorer in the United Rugby Championship and returned to the team in their win over Munster on New Year's Day.

Jack Carty, though, has been passed fit to face the Premiership leaders.

“It’s very competitive in training and it makes selection very difficult," head coach Andy Friend said.

"I honestly feel we have double, if not more, for every position.

"We have a pretty clean bill of health at the moment, so we are in a good space as a squad, which is good at this stage of the year.

"That’s probably the only plus coming out of the weekends off, you get a chance to recover and recoup,”

Connacht also confirmed that long-term absentees Denis Buckley and Peter Robb could return by the end of the month.

Centre Tom Daly is set to resume training in mid-February.
