Mack Hansen drafted into Irish squad

Connacht's Mack Hansen has been added to the Ireland squad ahead of the Autumn Nations series.

He has been drafted in by Andy Farrell to train with the squad this week.

Ireland take on Japan this weekend before clashes with New Zealand and Argentina.

Hansen, a winger, was born in Australia but qualifies to play for Ireland through his mother who hails from Cork.

He has represented Australia at U-20 level.

Hansen joined Connacht from Brumbies earlier this year and has impressed since linking up with Andy Friend's side.

He produced a man-of-the-match performance in his home debut when Connacht beat the Bulls 34-7 at the Sportsground in the United Rugby Championship.

Hansen then scored two tries in their impressive defeat of Ulster in the last round at the Aviva Stadium.

A versatile operator, the 23-year-old is also capable of playing anywhere across the back three or at outhalf.

Ireland's squad update also says that Robbie Henshaw will continue his rehab programme 'under the direction of the Ireland medical team'.

The centre is nursing a foot injury.

Munster Thomas Ahern and Jamie Osbourne of Leinster have both returned to their provinces having trained with the squad last week.
