Lions kick off time changed for Sharks game as tour disruption continues

The Lions will now face the Sharks at 7pm Irish time on Wednesday as the touring party continue to explore options for a match on Saturday.

The match was scheduled for 6pm Irish time, but the necessity of further PCR tests has prompted the change of kick off time at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

The Lions are still examining options around a match this Saturday, after four positive tests within the Bulls squad made that game untenable.

South Africa is currently battling a significant third wave of Covid-19.

It's also been confirmed that South Africa's match with Georgia on Friday is off, with 12 coronavirus cases in the Springboks camp and four in the Georgia squad.

The British and Irish Lions are set to face South Africa in the first of three tests in Johannesburg on Saturday July 24th, but it's possible that those tests could be moved to Cape Town.

Iain Henderson will captain Warren Gatland's side against the Sharks, with Bundee Aki the other Irish player in the team.

Tour captain Conor Murray, Tadhg Beirne, Tadhg Furlong and Jack Conan have been named on the bench.
