Leinster's Barry Daly receives ban after red card against Scarlets

Leinster's Barry Daly has been handed a one-week suspension for the red card he incurred against Scarlets in the weekend's Pro 12 action.

The province picked up a losing bonus point against the Welsh side but lost Daly to a sending off midway through for a tackle in the air.

The wing departed the field of play on 41 minutes last Friday night  for taking out Aled Thomas in an aerial challenge.

He has accepted that he committed an act of foul play and will be available for a return to action on December 4th when his suspension expires.

In a statement, the Pro 12's disciplinary committee ruled: "A Disciplinary Panel convened in Wales today to consider the red card received by Barry Daly (No 11), for Leinster Rugby against Scarlets on Friday, November 25 for committing an act of foul play under Law 10.4 (e) – Dangerous Tackling.

"The player appeared by video conference and accepted that he had committed an act of foul play which warranted a red card. The Disciplinary Panel agreed upon a low-end entry point of two weeks' suspension which was reduced to one week due to mitigating circumstances.

"The player will be free to resume playing from midnight on Sunday, December 4, 2016."
