Leinster run in nine tries to humiliate Northampton in Dublin

Leinster dominated a weakened Northampton side in Dublin, running in nine tries to condemn their visitors to back-to-back Champions Cup defeats.

Leinster followed up last week's 37-10 win at Franklin's Gardens with a relentless running display in Dublin on Saturday night.

The hosts started brightly with Adam Byrne crossing in the corner after Kirchner drew the defence to him and released his winger to open the scoring.

Northampton fought back though and took the lead through two Myler penalties before a breakaway try from Ken Pisi gave them a surprise 13-5 lead.

That was as good as it got for the visitors though as Leinster upped the tempo and scores from Luke McGrath, Sean O'Brien and a second from Byrne took the home side to a 29-13 lead at half-time.

Leo Cullen's men picked up where they left off at the start of the second half. Wave after wave of blue offence led to early scores from the impressive Tadgh Furlong and Sean Cronin.

Leinster continued to pile on the points and two more tries from Isa Nacewa and one from Rory O'Loughlin compounded Northampton's 60-13 defeat.

Leinster now top their pool on 16 points although second placed Montpellier and Castres meet tomorrow. Regardless of the result, the Dublin side will remain top going into the final two matches in the pool.
