Leinster move to ease Ireland concerns over Sexton and Lowe

Jonathan Sexton will link up with the Ireland squad ahead of the Six Nations, despite a fresh injury concern.

The out-half suffered what Leinster are calling a "minor muscle" injury during Saturday night's 13-10 win away to Munster in the Guinness PRO14.

Sexton was replaced by Ross Byrne 13-minutes into the second half at Thomond Park. Both players were named in Andy Farrell's panel of 36 for the Six Nations.

Leinster have also confirmed that James Lowe will be joining up with his international teammates.

The Kiwi-born winger is about to embark on his maiden Six Nations voyage, but must first complete his rehab of a groin injury. He'll receive further assessment within the Ireland camp.

Garry Ringrose played for the first time since sustaining a broken jaw, and came through the Munster game with no ill-effects.

Leinster say Tadhg Furlong will increase his workload this week as he continues a long and winding road back from a calf injury.

The tighthead last played competitively in last year's Six Nations but has been included in Farrell's Ireland squad.

It's likely Furlong could see some game time in Leinster's PRO14 game away to Scarlets this coming Saturday.

Jimmy O'Brien won't be making the short hop to Parc y Scarlets. He sustained a hamstring injury in the win at Thomond Park.

Dan Leavy and Dave Kearney missed the Munster game with respective calf and hamstring problems, but both should be involved this week ahead of the trip to Wales.

Rory O’Loughlin (shoulder), Scott Penny (neck), Conor O’Brien (knee), Tommy O’Brien (ankle), Max Deegan (knee), Vakh Abdaladze (back) and Adam Byrne (hamstring) all remain long-term absentees for Leinster.
