Leinster romped to victory against Connacht at the RDS on Saturday evening, defeating their provincial rivals 54-7 in the Pro14.

The reigning Pro14 champions started the new decade much as they finished the last, annihilating their opponents with fast attacking rugby.

The performance marked the season's fastest achievement of a bonus point victory with Leo Cullen's men reaching the feat after just 19 minutes.

In keeping with Leinster's recent performances, it didn't take long for them to get over the try line. It was 23-year-old Max Deegan who got the ball down for the evening's first try just two minutes after kick-off.

Dave Kearney, Ciaran Frawley and Joe Tomane got over for the remainder of Leinster's first four tries, while Deegan got over for a second later in the first half. Luke McGrath rounded off a near-perfect first-half performance and gave Leinster a 40 point lead going into half-time - Leo Cullen's only concern being James Ryan's exit from play with injury.

With victory all but assured, the second half brought a Garry Ringrose brace which bookended a 69th-minute consolation try from Connacht's Tom McCartney.

A 10th victory of the tournament now leaves Leinster 11 points clear of Ulster at the top of Conference A.
