Joey Carbery has signed a two-year contract extension with Munster.

The Ireland out-half's new deal now takes him up to June 2022.

The Leinster academy product joined Munster at the start of the 2018-19 season in a bid to gain game-time and experience at 10, with a view to underpinning his role with Ireland.

Speaking to Munster's official website, the 23-year-old said he feels "properly fitted in now".

Privileged

"I’m absolutely delighted. Happy to be staying down here, more than privileged to be accepted into this club and to be part of this club and being able to train and throw on the jersey each weekend is pretty special.

“I feel like I’m properly fitted in now and know the lads really well. They made it easy, my transition coming down, and having known a few lads from the Irish set-up, I can’t ask for much more really.”

Carbery is Munster's top scorer in the Guinness Pro14 this season with 75. The out-half has also scored 68 points in the Heineken Champions Cup.

He has also weighed in with three tries domestically. But he is also the top try scorer in Europe for Munster with three tries. He's also added four try assists in continental competition.

Carbery also featured for Ireland in the 2019 Six Nations, coming on as a sub in the first two games.
