JJ Hanrahan may be about to rejoin Munster

JJ Hanrahan looks set for a return to Munster next season.

The Kerry native moved to England last season to join Northampton Saints on a two-year deal. That contract ends in the summer, and the Irish Independent claim the 24-year-old looks set to return to his native province.

Hanrahan has yet to play a full international for Ireland, despite his talent. He was nominated in 2012 for the IRB's Junior Player of the Year award but lost to South Africa's Jan Serfontein.

Despite impressing last season, Hanrahan has struggled in his second season with Northampton. Last weekend, he started at inside centre against Leinster, in what was only his second appearance of the season.

Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast, former Ireland and Munster forward David Corkery said the news of Hanrahan's potential return is "fantastic news".

"It's fantastic for these guys to go away and experience rugby in a different part of the world. He will come back to Munster as a far better player. The experience he will have gained over there will only benefit Munster."

Tyler Bleyendaal and Ian Keatley are currently battling it out for the famous red number ten jersey. It looks like that duo will have an additional player to compete against next season.
