Healy: I've never been good at dealing with injuries

Ireland front-row Cian Healy says that dealing with injuries has always been tough for him, but counts his blessings for never before having an injury as serious as the one that is currently keeping him sidelined.

“I’ve never been too good at dealing with it (injuries). I’ve kinda been blessed enough that everything’s healed quick enough and I haven’t had a layoff like this” he said tonight on Off the Ball.

“I have to stick to protocol because it’s tendons so I’ve been given a timeframe of when I’ll be in and around back (playing). I have to treat it like a bit of a sabbatical; just separate from rugby, get my training done, try to tweak the body to be as good as it can possibly be when the hamstring is ready to go.”

Tonight’s interview dealt with Healy’s upbringing, his school life and making his first break in the Leinster and Ireland set ups. However, the prop was also asked if the ‘dark arts’ of the front row in rugby is merely a myth.

“It’s just a push-off” he refuted.

“A few people have a few tricks but, like, there’s nothing like the olden days… Second rows aren’t allowed to give props punches in the face anymore.”
