Guinness PRO12 Round-Up: Crosbie kicks Connacht to victory

Connacht had Steve Crosbie to thank as the Irish province picked up a valuable 22-19 win away to Edinburgh this evening.

Crosbie kicked 17 points to earn earn them a win which takes them up to 7th in the Guinness PRO12 Championship.

The visitors led 6-0 approaching on 27 minutes, Crosbie punishing Edinburgh for their indiscipline with two penalties.

That was followed by Eoin McKeon's try just three minutes later. He latched onto the end of Kieran Marmion's perfectly timed pass and raced through the defence to cross.

Crosbie was again flawless from his kicking and notched a conversion to make it 13-0 to the visitors. The 24-year-old gave Connacht a 16-0 lead going in at the break with another penalty.

Another penalty after the break gave Connacht a 19-point lead and on the hour mark added his final points of the game to give them a 22-0 lead.

Hamish Watson and an Edinburgh penalty try saw the home side mount a late comeback. Glenn Bryce scored six minutes from time to cut the gap to just three, but the Connacht were able to hold on for the win.

Ulster, meanwhile, were forced to share the spoils at Kingspan Stadium as they drew 24-24 with Cardiff.

Paddy Jackson scored a first-half try and converted another to see the home side go in 14-10 ahead at the break.

Sam Warburton got the try for the visitors, while Gareth Anscombe notched a conversion and a penalty.

Rey Lee-Lo ran over two tries in the second half for the visitors, Anscombe again on hand to convert for Cardiff.

But Luke Marshall's try 12 mintues from time gave Jackson the chance to hand the home side a draw.
