Retired Irish jockey Katie Walsh joined Friday Night Racing to discuss Envoi Allen.
Katie Walsh and Robbie Power joined Ger Gilroy and Johnny Ward to preview the Christmas slate of racing.
As ever, there will be plenty of racing over the coming weeks and plenty of tips doing the rounds. For the full show and to get the full breakdown of each relevant race, you can watch the full show below.
Whether it's Limerick or Leopardstown, there will be plenty of horses to choose from over the coming weeks. Robbie Power is looking forward to watching A Plus Tard and might look to back him. But the bigger statement of the day came from Katie Walsh and her dismissal of seven-year-old Envoi Allen.
"Envoi Allen's days are behind him," Walsh said.
"I think he was so well placed by Gordon from the time he went over fences, he never had to even produce his hurdle forms. It's only when he stepped in amongst the big dogs the last day we really saw what's there. I think that's just the way he is. I thought Gordon did an unbelievable job to place him."
The statement drew quite the reaction in studio.
Johnny Ward responded by pointing to Envoi Allen's successes, but Walsh doesn't think the form matches the reality. Rachel Blackmore rode Envoi Allen for his three most recent races.
Envoi Allen has run five times in total this year. He won one race at Punchestown in January. He won another at Down Royal in October. During his most recent race, he finished sixth of 10 riders on December 5th. He failed to finish in his other two races in March and April.
"In all those chases last year, noone really took him on. Failure to Launch was the first one where we thought we were going to get a race. Tipping around there, winning on the bridle, but I actually think that's just him now. I wouldn't be too concerned about Envoi Allen I don't think anymore in anything.
"Maybe it will come back and haunt me but I haven't been a fan."
Power later jibed at Walsh's claim, but she stuck to her guns.
"Away with ye. You can have him. You can have him. Good luck. I'll have A Plus Tard, you can ride Envoy Allen away." She retorted.
