Cooney has been a central part of Ulster's side since joining in 2017, having previously spent time at Leinster and Connacht.
The 31-year-old scrum-half has made 85 appearances in his four years at the club, and his kicking has become an important part of Ulster's game.
Addison, a versatile back, joined from Sale Sharks in 2018 and his form saw him break into the Irish side in the same year.
Meanwhile, Sean Reffell will move to Belfast off the back of a productive spell at Saracens.
He was the English club's Young Player of the Season last year, and has played for England at U-20 level.
Head Coach Dan McFarland the news of all three players being part of next year's squad.
"John is a valued member of our squad, who continues to play a central role in the team, both on and off the field," McFarland said.
"It is great that he has bought into our ambitions for the future, and his experience and skills will play an important role in helping us to achieve those.
โI am also delighted that Will is remaining with us, and I look forward to seeing him back out on the field soon.
"Will has been extremely unlucky with injury recently, but with his play-making abilities and versatility, he is set to continue to make an impact for Ulster in the time ahead.
โWe are looking forward to welcoming Sean to the province next summer.
"With an already impressive track-record for Saracens, he will be a great fit alongside some real quality in our back row, and I am confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.โ
