Connacht slip to defeat at Zebre

Connacht have slipped to a 25-22 defeat to Zebre in the Guinness Pro 12.

Although they picked up the losing bonus point, Pat Lam's side will be disappointed that they couldn't make the most of their rescheduled game in hand against their Italian opponents.

The original fixture in Parma had been called off shortly after half time back in September with Connacht trailing.

They would trail again today, despite leading early on.

Early tries from Stacey Ili and Craig Ronaldson had Connacht 12-3 up after a quarter hour of action at Stadio Lanfranchi.

But a Derek Minnie try on 26 minutes had Zebre back in the match and they would lead 13-12 at the break.

Just three minutes after half time, Tommaso Boni scored a try which made it 18-12.

Edoardo Padovani's 67th minute try would extend the advantage and despite Josh Rowland's own try two minutes from time for Connacht, the Irish province had to settle for a narrow defeat.

The result means reigning champions Connacht remain seventh in the Pro 12 table, 21 points off the Top 4 places, while Zebre are still rooted to the bottom despite victory in the 18th round of action.
