Pat Lam's side made a fast start, with John Cooney's 17th minute try giving the province an early platform.
But Cardiff responded immediately when Tom James got in for an intercept try.

But Connacht showed resilience as Cooney penalties put them back in front.
And Bundee Aki made sure of the win with a 57th minute try.

Leaders Leinster were defeated in their match away at Scarlets as they fell to a 38-29 defeat.
However, Leo Cullen's team did salvage a bonus point after scoring four tries.
Richardt Strauss, Adam Byrne, Barry Daly and Andrew Porter got the Leinster tries.

Johnny McNicholl, Werner Kruger, Steffan Evans, Will Boyde and Ryan Elias scored the Scarlets tries.
Leinster also lost Barry Daly to sending off after taking a player out in the air.

Meanwhile, in the third game that did go ahead in the Pro 12, Glasgow Warriors were beaten at home by a 22-5 scoreline against Ospreys.
The Pro 12 action continues on Saturday when Munster host Benetton Treviso at Thomond Park.
That will get underway at 2pm.
