Cardiff pitch invader handed lifetime ban from Wales games by WRU

A pitch invader who contributed to Wales' defeat to South Africa at the weekend has received a lifetime ban.

28-year old Callum Rowe of Senghenydd Rugby Club leapt over a perimeter barrier and onto the pitch during the 63rd minute of the Springboks 23-18 victory at the Principality Stadium.

Rowe was grounded by security staff, but impeded the run of Wales player Liam Williams as he made his way towards the South African line for a potential try. He was ejected from the stadium, but not arrested.

It's believed he invaded the pitch on foot of a £20 (€23) bet.

Video footage on social media subsequently showed Rowe being doused in beer and other liquids by angry Wales supporters who felt he'd cost them a first victory over the Springboks since 2018.

The Times report that the WRU and Senghenydd RFC held an emergency meeting on Monday morning.

It was decided Rowe would be banned from purchasing tickets for Wales home games for life.

His wasn't the only high-profile pitch invasion on Saturday.

Daniel Jarvis has made a name for himself by imposing himself where he's not wanted, and managed to line up alongside Japan players ahead of the playing of their anthem at the Aviva Stadium.

He'd pulled a similar stunt before last week's meeting of Wales and the All Blacks.
