"We can safely assume that Owen Farrell won't be available for Leinster" - McCall

Saracens' director of rugby Mark McCall says they're planning to be without their captain Owen Farrell for their upcoming Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final against Leinster.

The England and Lions back will learn the length of his suspension following an online disciplinary hearing tonight in the wake of his dismissal against Wasps at the weekend.

Farrell received the first red card of his career for a high, reckless swinging arm tackle on Charlie Atkinson during the Gallagher Premiership match at the Allianz and his suspension is likely to be for six games.

“Obviously Owen got the tackle wrong, there’s no question about that. He’s been into the club and I’ve spoken to him,” McCall said of the incident ahead of today's hearing.

“You could see from his reaction as soon as it happened that he knew he got it wrong and he is incredibly regretful.

“He stood on the touchline and waited for Charlie to get up and come off and he was really concerned for him. You could see on his face how he felt.

“We should let the proceedings take their course but we can safely assume that Owen won’t be available for Leinster and we’ll plan as such.
