Brian O'Driscoll believes Leinster will become a better for the experience of defeat against Clermont Auvergne.
The Ireland and Leinster legend and former Ireland head coach Eddie O'Sullivan joined Off The Ball to review a weekend which saw both Leinster and Munster knocked out of the Champions Cup at the semi final stage to Clermont Auvergne and Saracens respectively.
Leinster lost 27-22 in France and for what is in many parts a young team, O'Driscoll is tipping them to take learnings from the result and performance which they can take into future campaigns.
"You look at that back row and the experience they'll have gotten from playing quarter final, semi final. That will serve them well," he said, adding that "the disappointment also fuels you" and that the culture within the team will spur them to make that extra step.
"You can react two ways and I don't think that the culture and the environment in there under Leo Cullen and Stuart Lancaster would allow people to feel sorry for themselves for too long. I think they've got a pretty winning mentality. Even though they didn't win this weekend, it's about improvement."
Meanwhile, O'Sullivan felt Munster did not have many alternative ways of attacking Saracens in their defeat on Saturday.
"I think part of the problem was that they didn't ask Saracens any questions that they couldn't answer. They literally built their game on the game they played all season which has been very aggressive, very intense, one-off runners, bullying teams which they consistently do in the Pro 12. But I think when you meet a team like Saracens, it's just not going to work," he said.
"The disappointing team for me is that Munster didn't really try anything out of the ordinary to try and discommode Saracens. Saracens knew what to expect and they shut it down pretty comfortably."
Eddie feels that it is important that Munster make the next step in terms of evolution and that they do have the talent in the team to add more elements.
