BOD and Matt Williams give the inside track on the Cheika magic

When Ireland face Australia in the Guinness Series next month, we will be up against a familiar face.

The Wallabies' new head coach Michael Cheika is well-known to Leinster fans.

And of course Brian O'Driscoll knows what his strengths are, as does his countryman Matt Williams.

Fortunately, both were also on hand to tell Off The Ball exactly what to expect from Cheika's Australia.

"I loved Cheika. I thought he was great for us. I think he really shook things up," said Brian of his memories of the former Leinster boss, setting out the reasons why he admires Cheika so much.

But can he lift Australia's fortunes after the Ewen McKenzie era? Williams spoke about Cheika's great qualities but believes he has may have made an error maintaining his contract with the Waratahs.

"I think he's made an error in his contract, continuing with the Waratahs next year in the lead up to the World Cup," said Williams, before highlighting the different challenge between club and international rugby.

"The beauty of club rugby is that you have the players for a long time and time to build. You don't have time with the team when you are international coach."

He also highlighted the emergency situation Australia find themselves in.

"Australia needs Michael to come through. Rugby in Australia is in a very perilous state and really what we've just seen is a bit of crisis management."
