Andy Dunne hailed Joey Carbery's performance after Munster beat Gloucester 41-15 on Friday in the Heineken Champions Cup.
The talented out-half bagged a brace of tries and added 16 points off the tee to secure a comprehensive away win.
Speaking on Off the Ball on Saturday, Dunne said: "I really think the most significant stat is that he's kicked 17 place kicks out of 17 since the Castres game and he has shown incredible resilience to do that mentally. We spoke after that Castres game and I mentioned in studio that his strike was really good, his run up like very rhythmical but it was going wide and nobody cares about that when the end result with a place kick ain't between the posts - nobody cares.
"But, there was a semblance of rhythm to his place-kicking that I thought he would come through. Now, to come through with flying colours with the next 17 place-kicks out of 17 being nailed, to maintain a style, to have the calmness and rhythm to strike and to trust the process and to do it under pressure in key games - he's now been the starting 10 in wins against Leinster, a European game over in Gloucester and obviously that late Connacht win - so he's coming of age as a 10. Irish rugby and Munster rugby tend to demand a guy that they can trust off the tee from 10.
"He has clearly added that to his game - if he can remain as consistent as that - he is one of our most gifted and talented players around the field and that play alone, on the right hand side of a ruck where he caught the ball and he manged a quick shuffle of the feet and what he did was he read the defence right in front of him, changed his mind at the last minute and put in a left foot grubber kick - it was just incredibly smart play. It's the type of play you rarely see players at this level have the capacity to do - to change their mind on the hoof and he's got that style about him that looks as if the game moves slightly slower for him.
"It's tough for Leinster fans but huge for everyone else to see him as such a commanding influence yesterday," he added.
