REACTION | Gerrard's Rangers stop Celtic's 10-in-a-row bid

As Rangers celebrate their 2020-2021 SPFL title win, fans and opponents took to social media to give their reactions.

Steven Gerrard's side won the title on Sunday afternoon without kicking a ball.

Celtic's failure to beat Dundee United meant that Rangers were crowned champions.

The league leaders had beaten St Mirren on Saturday to put themselves on the brink.
The two clubs play each other next weekend in an Old Firm derby.

While Celtic's poor form has been well documented, Rangers have put together a very impressive campaign.

They have yet to lose, with 28 wins and four draws in the league, and are also into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Champions-elect for some time, they have now officially bridged a 10-gap to their last title in 2011.

The club's financial difficulties throughout the last decade saw Celtic dominate, but the arrival of Steven Gerrard has helped create a greater optimism.

Speaking yesterday, he said the club had been "to hell and back over the past 10 years".

"I don't think while I'm representing this club there will ever be a bigger three points," he said following their win over St Mirren.

"I've only been part of it for three [years], but I can certainly relate and I've got that feeling and that affection with the fans and I know what they have been through."

"It's been an emotional day, obviously arriving here and seeing the scenes," Gerrard added. "It was an incredible feeling.

"For me the priority is to really let this sink in, get it officially done and realise the monumental achievement that it is. But that's got to make you hungry for more."

Gerrard also emphasised the need for fans to celebrate safely, given the current pandemic.
Some had gathered outside Ibrox yesterday and again today [Sunday].

"That's the priority - people's safety," he said.
