Navan race meeting called off due to Storm Jorge

The planned Pre Cheltenham Raceday at Navan has fallen victim to the weather.

Storm Jorge is due to hit the country at midday on Saturday, bringing with it 130km/h winds and a risk of flooding.

Met Éireann has issued an orange wind warning for Clare, Galway Kerry and Mayo from 6.00am on Saturday to 3.00am Sunday.

A warning will also be in place for Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 12.00pm Saturday to 3.00am Sunday.

With that in mind, Horse Racing Ireland has confirmed the seven-race card at Navan has been cancelled for safety reasons.

The Navan meeting's been rescheduled for Tuesday March 3.

The Limerick point-to-point meeting at Ballycahane, and the Carbery point-to-point fixture at Bandon - both scheduled for Sunday - have been postponed as the tracks were deemed unfit for racing.

Both fixtures have been rescheduled to Saturday March 7.
