Horses from raided Kildare yard test negative for banned substances

All horses at the County Kildare yard raided earlier this month have tested negative for banned substances.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Body (IHRB) confirmed on Tuesday that no positive tests were forthcoming from the hair and blood samples taken at the Monasterevin yard.

Earlier this month, on foot of a tip-off, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine officials - in tandem with the Gardaí and IHRB officials - conducted a raid on the Kildare premises.

That raid occurred - ironically - on the same day as an Oireachtas Committee found that there was no evidence that Irish doping regulations were sub-par.

The Oireachtas Agriculture Committee report was a response to allegations of widespread doping in the industry by experienced trainer Jim Bolger.

Animal medicines not permitted for use on racehorses were seized in the Monasterevin raid.

On Tuesday, an IHRB statement read:

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board can today confirm that the hair and blood samples taken from horses at a premises near Monasterevin, County Kildare, on 9th November 2021 have been analysed at LGC laboratories and reported negative for prohibited at all times substances.

As this is part of an ongoing investigation working in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and other agencies, we cannot make any further comment at this time.
