We already know that the first transfer deadline day will be in October, as the Premier League announced its window for the 2020/2021 season.
The window, which is subject to FIFA approval, will open once the current season concludes.
Doors will be open for business from Monday July 27th, running for 10 weeks until Monday October 5th.
A domestic only window will then apply from October 5th, which will close at 5pm on Friday October 16th.
During this secondary period, Premier League clubs will be permitted to trade with English Football League clubs, but not amongst themselves.
Top-level football has been able to successfully return behind closed doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, so there must be confidence that these dates can apply.
Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United was the biggest signing of the winter transfer window, joining from Sporting for £54 million and has arguably been the most influential transfer of the season.
Rodri joined Manchester City for £72 million last summer, with Nicolas Pepe and Tanguy Ndombele arriving at Arsenal and Spurs respectively for £58.5 million.
Whether those sums can be exchanged with top European clubs next season during this public health crisis remains to be seen.
Manchester United are one club that are expected to be instantly busy in this new window, as they look to get the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Chris Smalling off their books.
