Philisophical Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool gaining from losses

Jurgen Klopp has sent a warning out to the rest of the clubs in the Premier League, and Europe, that they have yet to see the best of his Liverpool team.

The Merseyside club is on the verge winning it's first league title - holding a 25 point lead at the top of the table before the Premier League shut down.

This, just less than a year after he led them to a Champions League title but the German believes that his team can still play better.

"If we are to be successful, it depends on what other clubs are doing as well because they all have a chance to improve things, to do things better, so I have no clue what the future will hold for us," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"We will not change. This team is not a finished article, it's not done. We have a lot of space for improvement if we work on it.

"We have fresh blood internally coming up. We can mix things through so there are a lot of things we can improve obviously but we can improve it with this team which is really great."

The Reds failed to defend their European crown, having being knocked out in the last-16 of this season's competition by Atletico Madrid.

Klopp pointed to their loss to Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final, and being pipped to last season's Premier League title by Manchester City, as evidence of how his team grows after suffering disappointing defeats on the big stage.

"Life is a constant challenge, in this moment especially because we have never faced a challenge like the one we have now and it looks like the situations we had in the past, that we thought are big problems...they look like nothing," said Klopp.

"Losing a Champions League final, feels now in this world, that feels like a joke and nothing else but in that moment it felt really harsh.

"Then going again and qualifying again for a Champions League final and not winning the league because of a point or whatever, or because of eleven milimetres and stuff like that, that could be hard.

"The only way to get something is to give everything but that is not a guarantee.

"The boys are always ready to give their all, absolutely, and try again and try again and try again and then there are two possible scenarios. One is you lose the final, one is you win the final.

"If you lose the final, there is still a wonderful experience to go there because you had to qualify in the semi-finals, in a quarter-finals, in the last-16, all that stuff.

"You have to go through the group stage, you can take so much confidence from it and that's what we did from our Champions League defeat against [Real] Madrid.

"This was a strange final and it said nothing about the boys, absolutely nothing.

"The only thing that we realised, we are good enough to cause problems for a few more teams now and that's exactly the plan for the next season."

As last season's Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur demonstrated, it is hard for players to get back to their best after a long break between games.

There are still no certainties with regard to this season and a possible resumption but Klopp knows that one thing is for certain with his squad.

"Whenever we can play again, whenever it will be, we will not give up. That's the only thing," he added.

"At the moment when we are allowed to concentrate on football again, then we will do that again and then we will start with that again and try our best again"
