"Hundred per cent we're hurting" - Peter O'Mahony

Peter O'Mahony says he and his Ireland team-mates are still "hurting" after their chastening loss to England.

The Ireland and Munster flanker was part of the side that fell to a 32-20 defeat at the Aviva Stadium.

An Irish side coming off the back of a 2018 Grand Slam were pre-match favourites. But the match did not transpire that way and it's still paining O'Mahony.

"Hundred per cent we're hurting. The Aviva is a place where we haven't lost for a while. You never like losing no matter whether for Ireland or your club," he said.

"But particularly the Aviva was somewhere we made a fortress and certainly that hurts. But the beauty of our job is - bar the last game of a campaign - you can get back out if you're given a shot.

"I'm certainly not going to sit here and say it didn't hurt. It certainly hurts but we can't be hanging around feeling sorry for ourselves. We've got to take our review on the chin and dust ourselves off and get stuck into the week.

"We didn't fire"

"There's a lot of rugby to played between now and the end of the campaign."

O'Mahony acknowledged England's strengths and performance but also touched on where Ireland fell flat.

"We certainly weren't happy with areas of our game. Some of our strong points that we base our game around, we didn't fire at, at times. That's disappointing," he admitted.

But he also said he sees no reason to panic.

O'Mahony also discussed the facial injury to CJ Stander that rules him out for four weeks.

"He's hard. He'll rest up for a few weeks and hopefully we'll have him back in a couple of weeks depending on a couple of factors," he said.

O'Mahony also looked ahead to the Scotland match in Murrayfield as Ireland look to bounce back.
