Pep Guardiola fears that Sergio Aguero's season is over

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is worried that he'll be without striker Sergio Aguero for the rest of the season.

City's record goalscorer went off with a knee injury in last night's 5-0 win against Burnley following a tackle by the visitors' captain Ben Mee.

Guardiola is concerned that Aguero has aggravated an issue which he was recovering from last month.

"It doesn't look good. We are going to see tomorrow. He was struggling in the last month with a problem in the knee," the City boss said after the game at the Etihad.

"We will see what he has done but it doesn't look good for the season."

Phil Foden scored twice for City in the rout of the Clarets and Guardiola says he's a natrual successor for David Silva, who will leave the club this summer:

"When David said it was his last year I told the board we have Phil, so we don't have to invest.

"It is difficult to find a replacement like David, what he has done with this club.

"Players like Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and David as well have helped us to be who we are as a team and a club.

"It is difficult to find a replacement but in Foden, we have a young Manchester City fan who every time he plays gives us something unique and special.

"In the next decade, or 15 years, he will be an outstanding player for us. I don't have doubts."
