Parrott 'not ready' despite Spurs appearance | Jose Mourinho on Wolves loss

Jose Mourinho says that Troy Parrott is 'not ready' for first-team action for Tottenham, despite coming on in their 3-2 defeat to Wolves.

Mourinho spoke about the young Republic of Ireland international and kept to the usual line regarding Parrott, despite injuries to Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

“He is not ready. He is not ready. He is a good kid we want to help, not only on the pitch but off it," said Mourinho.

"He is a kid who’s going to have a real opportunity but when we decide it is right.

He was on the bench because [Erik] Lamela said he was not ready to go on it.

He was on the bench so, for the last five minutes, we brought him on to give some more space for Dele [Alli].”

As for the result itself, this was a big blow to a Spurs side attempting to qualify for the Champions League.

“I don’t think it was a fair result. Both teams looking to win. Both teams with different styles.

"They are so powerful on the counter-attack. We tried different solutions.

"It worked in a way because we scored two goals. I think it’s unfair, the result, totally unfair.”

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo, meanwhile, believes that his players' attention to recovery has been key to their success so far this season.

This was Wolves' 46th competitive match of the season and Santo believes that fitness has been key.

“It’s a not a question of surprise. It’s the players knowing they have to recover well and they believe in the way we do things. We have to embrace the challenge.

“It was a good win in a tough game. Tottenham started much better than us, they moved the ball well and had chances.

"The first half was not good but I was happy with how we finished the game."
