Paddy Prendergast, hero of Mayo's last All Ireland win of 1951, has died

Paddy Prendergast, who played on the Mayo senior football team which won All Ireland titles in 1950 and 1951, has died at the age of 95.

Prendergast was the last surviving member of the Mayo team which beat Meath in the 1951 decider. Mayo have not won the Sam Maguire Cup since.

From the Ballintubber club, Prendergast played at full-back on the Mayo team.

A Garda by profession, he subsequently moved to Kerry in the 1960s.

May he rest in peace.
