Manny Pacquiao to fight on: "This is not my last fight"

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has vowed to fight on after he faces Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this July.

Boxing's only eight division world champion is coming off a disputed loss against Australian Jeff Horn last year in Brisbane and is hoping a win against the Argentinian brawler will prolong his career.

"Pacman" enters the bout against Matthysse with a record of 59-7-2 and is looking to close out his legendary career with a couple more meaningful fights before hanging up his gloves in front of his home fans.

Speaking at a pre-fight press conference, the Filipino Senator said: "This is not my last fight...I want my last fight to be in The Philippines and that's my dream. I think I still have a couple more fights before I retire."

He hasn't fought at home since he beat Oscar Larios in July, 2006. He went on to fight some of the biggest names in the sport including Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather.

There is still some confusion as to who will train Pacquiao for his next bout with long time trainer Freddie Roach's position unclear. Some in the Filipino's camp suggested Roach won't be involved.

The pair have enjoyed a hugely successful relationship as Roach moulded the Filipino into one of the most exciting fighters on the planet over the last two decades and he released the following statement earlier this week to clarify his position:

“Contrary to statements which I personally did not make that are circulating in the media, I have not made my final decision who will be my head trainer for my July 14 fight with Matthysse. My advisor, Mike Koncz, has been in contact with Freddie’s people to keep them informed."
