Kieran Donaghy explains why it's easier to move on from defeat on the court than on the pitch

Kieran Donaghy joined Saturday's Off the Ball to discuss his love of basketball and why he's able to move on from a defeat on the court more easily than on a GAA pitch.

"It's unbelievably enjoyable," he told Nathan Murphy, "The pressure that comes with being an inter-county player in the big games, you know the 13 or 14 years now all them big games coming and the pressure and the high of the victory afterwards and the low of the defeat afterwards whereas, you know, basketball is very enjoyable for me.

"I don't like to lose - people know that so if I'm losing a league game somewhere I'm like a pig afterwards and a pig driving down in the car and then the next morning I'll wake up and see my two girls and it'll just be forgotten about so there'll be another game next week to play.

"Whereas, often with the football, you can finish and there's no more - you're out of something, it's the end, you're dissecting it for two or three weeks afterwards, it's kind of tormenting.

"But, for me, basketball is just so enjoyable and what's going on in Kerry and Ireland at the moment in the game is exciting and it's getting far more profile.

"People are running stories on it. You're having me in here today to talk about it. I think there's a genuine interest starting to become in the top league in Ireland.

"The crowds that we're getting to the games in Tralee and crowds are on the rise at every venue but we're very lucky in Tralee that the town are backing us and that there's an atmosphere and if you're ever down our way on a Saturday night and you're in Tralee and you go to a game - all I can promise you is that you won't be disappointed."
