Frampton on McGuigans: I wouldn't p**s on them if they were on fire

Carl Frampton has opened up on his feelings towards the McGuigan family for the first time since an acrimonious court case.

The former two-weight world champion reached a settlement with his former manager Barry McGuigan at Belfast High Court in November.

Frampton had sued McGuigan for allegedly withholding earnings from his fights.

McGuigan had launched a counter-suit claiming breach of contract for Frampton leaving his Cyclone Promotions in 2017.

During a successful period under McGuigan, Frampton was also trained by Barry's son Shane McGuigan.

While unable to disclose the details of the settlement, Frampton told the Anything Goes with James English podcast of his deep disdain for the McGuigans.

"It's dead," the Belfast fighter said of his current relationship with his former mentors, "There's no relationship.

"I'm just out of a court case with them which was settled. It was settled so no-one can say they won or anything but what I can say is I'm very fuckin' happy with the settlement. I can say that.

"But there's no relationship. I fuckin' despise them - all them - [I] hate them and that's just the way it is. A shame.

Frampton added, "I like to think of myself as a nice guy and I trust everybody.

"Like, I loved these guys. I had Shane and Jake McGuigan as groomsmen at my wedding. I was a groomsman at Shane's wedding.

"But I've a deep hatred for them now. All them. And I wouldn't fuckin' piss on them if they were on fire."

'The Jackal's career is now guided by MTK Global.

Frampton did concede, "Barry’s a very knowledgeable boxing person. He knows boxing inside out.

"Shane is a very good trainer as well. I’ll always be honest and say they’re very good boxing people but I just don’t like them."

Framtpon has the chance to become a three-weight world champion in February. Frampton will go up against Jamel Herring for the WBO Super Featherweight title in London on February 27.
