Five wicket haul at Lords a dream for Tim Murtagh

Irish bowler Tim Murtagh says he's in dreamland after taking five wickets to put Ireland in a commanding position after day one of their first-ever Test match against England.

Middlesex's Murtagh took 5 for 13 as Joe Root's team were all out for just 85 runs before lunch after winning the toss at Lord's.

It was England's lowest-scoring Test innings in 22-years and the 37-year-old's efforts have also earned his name a place on the honour's board at the home of cricket.

"It's just a dream to perform like that and to have my name up there on the honours board", said London-born Murtagh, who played underage cricket for London.

He took the scalps of openers Rory Burns and Jason Roy, before ripping through the middle order by getting out Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes

"We set out to try and make as many breakthroughs as possible really. We knew if we bowled at our best we could do some damage.

"The aim was to knock over three or four by lunch and I guess everything went our way, reviews, we took all our catches and the rest of our bowling attack did a really good job today".

"I should know how to bowl on this ground, that was key, to get it up there and let the pitch do a little bit of work.

"To be honest I didn't think I'd be on the away board when I first started playing, but I'll take it wherever it goes."

The visitors then scored 207 as they built a lead of 122 runs.

England will resume on nought for no wicket this morning with night-watchman Jack Leach at the crease alongside Rory Burns.
