GAA madness? Two games in four hours for dual star O'Dwyer

Tipperary's Orla O'Dwyer has shone a light on the life of dual GAA players, by playing two games within four hours of each other.

Speaking to Tipp FM, O'Dwyer explained that Sunday will see her play a football match at 1pm and a journey to play camogie elsewhere in the county at 5pm.

“We’re playing the football first, at 1 in Nenagh against Kerry and then at 5 in the evening camogie against Offaly.”

“I know it’s not an ideal situation at the moment but there is a national agreement there in Croke park that the ladies football and camogie are supposed to be played on separate days, especially with dual players but unfortunately that didn’t follow through with this occasion.”

“There’s nothing I can do and I can’t dwell too much. I feel like I’m very lucky to have been selected on both panels as it is and I suppose just to play my best for the two of them, and once the footballs over concentrate on the camogie”

“I suppose a win is needed for both of them. They’re both equally important, they’re both on the same day and I suppose it’s hard that way but I don’t know, I think I’m just gonna give it my best anyway and not dwell on it too much and not complain about it. I just want to get two wins for Tipperary and that’s the main thing I think.”

“I knew, playing the two of them, that they might overlap the same weekend but didn’t think it’d be the same day. Tipperary need two wins and that's what I’m hoping for.”
