Promoter Eddie Hearn says DAZN view Katie Taylor as a "top-tier super-star" ahead of broadcasting her upcoming world title bouts.
Hearn's Matchroom boxing has today completed a long-anticipated deal which will see his fighters' fights shown on DAZN over the next five years.
2012 Olympic champion Taylor is expected to boost her earnings by switching from Sky Sports, following the Bray fighter earning more than a million dollars for her lightweight title defence against Delphine Persoon last year.
“Katie would absolutely strangle me if I talked about the financials,” Hearn told a media conference call this afternoon.
“She is absolutely a top-top tier priority for our company in terms of making sure that she receives what she deserves because she is an absolute superstar and DAZN feels that way as well.
Obviously, this is a significant moment for Matchroom and DAZN in the UK, but this has a huge global strategy behind it for both businesses.
“The strategy for Matchroom Boxing is to be the absolute global powerhouse of boxing and the strategy for DAZN is to be the unrivalled home of global boxing."
Executive Vice President of DAZN, Joseph Markowski, added that Taylor was a major draw when making the deal with Matchroom.
“We are working with big names in sport around the world and there is no bigger name in women’s boxing than Katie Taylor. I cannot wait to see what Katie Taylor can do for us.”
