Cora Staunton suffered a double leg break while playing for her club in the AFL Sydney Premier Women's Division.
The Irishwoman was injured halfway through the third quarter of her side's clash with Macquarie University on Saturday.
Her club have confirmed that Staunton has broken both the tibia and fibula bones in her right leg.

She had recently signed a new deal with the club but now faces a sustained period on the sidelines.
Staunton has a been a huge success since she changed code - kicking 11 goals in 14 games for the Sydney based side.
