2013 All-Ireland winner Colin Ryan joined The Saturday Panel on Off the Ball as he reflected on his decision to retire from inter-county hurling.
He made his senior debut for his county in 2007 and speaking to Nathan Murphy about his decision, he said: "I suppose having the year out - I got to see what things were like on the other side but the lads were very good to me last year and giving me some time to think about it and stuff like that but I've no regrets from the decision I've made with everything I've done and enjoy the club game maybe a bit more.
"You know, being around the club lads and being at home and stuff like that so yeah, the decision finally came yesterday. I suppose I let Donal and Gerry know on Monday so it was time to just draw a line under it and move on."
"There's so much going on and the amount of time and commitment given to it all is phenomenal and I suppose I had a young fella on the way in March and I was kind of thinking I'd like to spend a bit more time at home and I suppose maybe the year I had before that - you kind of look at it and maybe you're not starting and you're kind of going 'is all the time worth it?'
"So I reflected on that...you look at your age and you kind of want to be playing matches all the time and not the training that goes with it so it became more and more, since I started in '07, it kind of steamrolled and steamrolled and steamrolled and I just looked at it and felt maybe the balance in my life wasn't right so I was glad I did it.
