"It irks me" - Carl Frampton on social media critics and taking on Nonito Donaire

Last November, Carl Frampton got back to winning ways when he defeated Horacio Garcia in Belfast.

Next up now for the Belfast boxer is a clash against Filipino fighter Nonito Donaire at the SSE Arena on April 21st.

Donaire presents an intriguing challenge for Frampton, having been named world Fighter of the Year in 2012, although the latter did the same more recently in 2016.

As he casts an eye towards that next date in the ring, Frampton joined Joe and Kevin for a chat.

"It's about stepping up and getting me ready for a world title shot," said Frampton.

"I believe I can win a world title again and no better opponent than Nonito Donaire to prove to myself that I can do it."

He cited social media comments in regards to making sure to take the best fights he can.

"I keep an eye on social media and stuff. To be honest, I don't like being criticised and I don't like people thinking that I'm taking easy fights," he said.

"It irks me a little bit so I wanted to fight a good name."

There's been a bit of change for Frampton who now works with Jamie Moore.

"There's a few differences. Obviously the location. I'm in Manchester now at the minute which I like more than London if I'm being honest," he said, adding that London can be "hectic" and that Manchester is more similar to Belfast, before discussing why he has reduced the number of sparring rounds he has been doing in comparison to previous years.

And on his motivation as he enters his 30s, he discussed the will to provide financial security for his family as well as adding to his already rich legacy in the fight game.

"I've never been doubted more than I have in recent times," he added.
