UFC president dana last night confirmed a welterweight clash between Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis has been verbally agreed for UFC 241.
The UFC chief says the pair have agreed to throw down at promotion's summer Pay-Per-View in Anaheim, Califironia, Aug. 20.
The news was first reported by ESPN, and was later confirmed by MMAFighting.com
34 year-old Diaz hasn't fought since UFC 202 back in August of 2016. A scheduled return to the Octagon against current UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier fell apart last October.
Former UFC lightweight champion "Showtime" is coming off a stunning KO victory over Stephen Thompson at 'UFC Fight Night Nashville: Thompson vs. Pettis' back in march of this year.
White announced the bout at last night's UFC 237 PPV in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He confirmed a bout agreement has yet to be signed but both camps have agreed on the 170lbs bout.
The news comes just 48 hours after former lightweight interim champion Tony Ferguson and Donald Cerrone agreed to face one another at UFC 238 next month in Chicago.
