Andy Lee backs Tyson Fury as "best heavyweight in the world"

By the time Spring 2018 is over, the heavyweight scenery in boxing will have shifted again.

Anthony Joshua takes on Joshua Parker, while Deontay Wilder goes up against Luis Ortiz, both in March.

But as Andy Lee told us last night, there's another figure hovering in the background who he feels still has the edge on all the others if he can return to form.

That of course is the controversial Tyson Fury, who is in line to make a return to the ring in April.

"The wildcard in the whole thing is Tyson Fury and probably the best fighter out of the whole lot of them is Tyson Fury. He's still The Ring magazine champion," he said.

"The Ring magazine champion has always been regarded as the champion. Whoever holds that belt is the champion.

"He still holds that belt because there's no one who has unified the division or won enough fights to say he is the champion. But he has been given an order by The Ring magazine to say that if he doesn't defend it by April, then he will be stripped of that title.

"But if he can get back in to shape and get back to some sort of form like he was when he beat Klitschko - or even before that - I still believe he's the best heavyweight in the world and will probably beat all those guys."

Andy also broke down Fury's qualities including an "unorthodox style" that means he can do things that many heavyweights can't.

Meanwhile, Andy also spoke about the prospect of fighting Danny Jacobs in the middleweight division as the opportunity becomes more likely.
