OTB Crystal Ball | GAA predictions for 2019 Senior Football Championship

Only a short way from the commencement of this year's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in New York, four members of Off the Ball hashed out their predictions for what might just happen in 2019 with the OTB crystal ball.

Setting out fifteen questions for this year's championship, Ger Gilroy, Adrian Barry, Tommy Rooney and Eoin Sheahan attempted to put their own shape on the unknown.

With a fair degree of shared understanding between the lads (Aidan O'Shea to win Footballer of the Year an apparent lock), some questions did throw up a bit of consternation.

On the long-running issue of Diarmuid Connolly and a potential return to the Dublin senior panel, hope ultimately played second-fiddle to reality.

"No, it would have happened by now," Eoin reckons. "Yes, for Vincent's," Tommy suggested before conceding, "yes, I'm a dreamer, he's coming back!"

While Ger and Adrian believes there is little or no chance Connolly returns, the former is adamant it's not too late: "What do you mean it's too late?! Rory O'Carroll just got back!"

With most of the lads under the impression Monaghan are set for a grim return to reality, Ger has opted for Tyrone as his biggest underachievers in this year's Championship.

Despite Tommy's fondness for Kerry's "huge men" in midfield, Mayo's Aidan O'Shea and Matthew Ruane all but sewed up that category.

Crucially, when it comes to stopping Dublin's drive-for-five - "Mayo ... Kerry ... the Dubs themselves." Regarding whether or not Dublin's five-in-a-row will actually be stopped, Adrian made an isolated case for Mayo's success at Dublin's expense.

While Tommy remains uncertain, Eoin and Ger just can't see the run being stopped as yet.
