British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith has been forced out of the Olympic Games through injury.
One of Team GB's most well-known athletes heading into the Olympics, Asher-Smith has been suffering with a hamstring injury she received in the build-up to the games.
After failing to make it out of her 100m heat, the 25-year-old World Champion sprinter announced her intention not to participate in the 200m event.
"It is the Olympics," she said in an interview explaining her decision, "but there is another one."
You can watch her interview with the BBC in full here here:
BREAK - Dina Asher-Smith won’t be competing in 200m sprint after not qualifying for 100m final. She spoke openly about hamstring injury, and how it’s held her back. What a woman. We’re proud of you lady #Olympics #Athletics pic.twitter.com/TVgikiNtaP

Incredibly emotional interview with @dinaashersmith. Must be so hard to wait for so long for the Olympics to come around, only not to be able to perform at your normal brilliant level due to injury in the buildup. Heartbreaking.

Gutted for Dina Asher-Smith. So much more to come from her in the years to come. Her legacy already transcends the athletics arena and the track she dominates. Right behind you Dina, all that you are and all that you’re yet to be. #respect
