Joe McGinley, who is an S&C coach at Leinster Rugby and works with the St Vincent's senior football team, has put this Off The Couch video together for us.
It focuses on how to keep top-athletes in shape - and also offers lessons for anyone trying to stay active!
One of the key-ideas he explains is eccentric training - which is the slow extension of muscles under stress - to maximise the impact of these exercises.
He joined OTB AM to break-down the video:
Staying active
Off The Couch is our new fitness series to help us all to stay fit - or get fit.
Some of Ireland’s leading trainers, physios, fitness experts, sportspeople and other friends of the show will be sharing their top tips in straight-to-the-point and easy to use videos - which will go live across or social channels every day at lunchtime.
Here are the videos so far:
Yesterday Bellator fighter Will Fleury shared a high-pace MMA workout.
On Monday, it was the turn of Longford footballer Mickey Quinn who presented a GAA skill challenge.
He also joined OTB AM this morning to talk about the lack of the use of flashy moves in the GAA.
