"We can do better" | Guardiola's warning ahead of Anfield trip

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola sent a chilling warning to Anfield as his side moved clear at the top of the Premier League.

First-half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling gave City a 2-0 win away to Burnley on Wednesday night.

The numbers City are beginning to stack up are becoming intimidating.

While they only have a three-point lead at the top of the table, City have won each of their last thirteen games in all competitions.

Their unbeaten run stretches to nineteen games back to November. Guardiola's side haven't conceded a Premier League goal since a Callum Hudson-Odoi consolation for Chelsea three-days into the new year.

City go to Liverpool on Sunday for a game that could go a long way to deciding the destination of this season's title.

When asked what they could have done better at Turf Moor, Guardiola replied, "We lost simple balls and I’m concerned and talked with them about the effort and doing simple things well.

"We are trying to do it but today more than usual we lost simple balls. But we continue to be solid and create chances, we know it is always difficult here and we did really well.

"We can do better but in general I’d say the players have done fantastic."

Looking ahead to Sunday, Guardiola said, "For now, we enjoy this game, tomorrow we start to think about next games.

"We have won six games in a row, against teams in low position of the table, and people say it's guaranteed - but we know exactly how tough it was against many of these clubs.

"We had to do our best, and now comes different teams, different types of play - now come another tough, tough group of games."
