Waterford have parted company with manager Ian Morris after just four months at the helm.

The First Division side have made the decision to change things up after a run of just one win in six games.

Morris was entrusted with guiding Waterford back to the SSE Airtricity Premier Division, having led Shelbourne to promotion last season. His tenure at the RSC started well, with three wins from their first four league games.

Since a 2-1 derby win at home to Wexford they've collected just a single win from six matches - and that against struggling Cobh Ramblers.

Waterford remain in the First Division playoff places, but their position in fifth has led to the decision to part ways with Morris.

"I personally would like to thank Ian for all his hard work," said Blues chairman Mitch Cowling, "He is a great guy and I have no doubt he will manage at the top level.

"We may have parted ways today but Ian will always be welcomed at the RSC to cheer the Blues on.

"I would like to wish Ian all the best in his career and I will be wishing for his success."

Assistant manager Gary Hunt and David Breen will take charge of Waterford for this Friday's game away to Wexford.

The next managerial appointment at the RSC will be the seventh since 2017, with Alan Reynolds, John Sheridan, Fran Rockett, Kevin Sheedy and Marc Bircham all passing through the doors since then.
