Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier has undergone surgery on a groin injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
The England international has not featured for the La Liga side since the Spanish Super Cup final defeat to Real Madrid on January 12th.

Trippier has missed six matches for Diego Simeone's side after sustaining the groin strain.
The 29-year-old has made 22 appearances for Atletico since his summer transfer from Tottenham.
Atletico host Liverpool in their Champions League last-16 first leg on February 18th so it's highly unlikely Trippier will be available.
The second of that tie is scheduled to take place at Anfield on March 11th.
